HARIPUR/ABBOTTABAD: PML-N leader and former tehsil councillor Raja Ayaz has tested positive for coronavirus taking the confirmed cases’ tally in the district to 10.
According to district health officer Dr Saifullah Khalid, Raja Ayaz has contracted the virus from former local PML-N MNA Babar Nawaz Khan, who he was in close contact with.
He said the former lawmaker had been under treatment in Islamabad for over a week.
Dr Khalid said Raja Ayaz, 56, was quarantined at home and his condition was stable.
“Samples from the former councillor’s family and close contacts will be sent to the National Institute of Health,” he said.
The DHO said his office had so far registered 145 suspected coronavirus cases from across the district and of them, 113 had tested negative for the virus and 10 positive.
He added that the test reports of the rest of suspected cases were awaited.
Dr Khalid said five coronavirus positive had recovered and that all 113 residents, including 86 members of the Tableeghi Jamaat, who tested negative for the virus, had been sent home.
RECOVERY: College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan, Abbottabad, regional director Prof Jehangir Khan has recovered from novel coronavirus (Covid-19) 20 days after testing positive for the virus.
He returned to his house here from the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, Islamabad.
Dr Jehangir thanked the Pims and Ayub Teaching Hospital doctors over care.
