KARACHI: A man the other day rightly picked out a suspect as accused who had kidnapped him from the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) in 2013.

Police claimed to have arrested Zohaib Qureshi and Muzaffar over their alleged involvement in last year’s two high-profile kidnappings of Bisma Saleem and Dua Mangi from the DHA.

Last week, Ms Mangi had identified both detained men as accused who had kidnapped her from the Bukhari Commercial area of the DHA on Nov 30, 2019, and released her a week later after the alleged ransom payment.

On Monday, the investigating officer produced suspect Zohaib Qureshi before a judicial magistrate concerned and moved an application for his identification parade by another kidnapping victim, Kamran Palijo.

After completing legal formalities, the judge called the suspects before the victim one by one, judicial staffers said.

The victim on Wednesday rightly identified the suspect from among the dummies, who had allegedly abducted him on Dec 8, 2013 from the Darakhshan area.

The victim said he had identified the suspect when he saw his picture shown on the media in the Dua Mangi kidnapping case, the judicial staffers added.

The judge remanded the suspect in police custody.
