SUKKUR, Aug 31: Leaders of the People’s Party Parliamentarians women’s wing have alleged that the president, the prime minister and the Sindh chief minister have become a party, due to which police and the administration were openly interfering in the third phase of the local government elections.

The PPP MPA and the provincial coordinator, Ms Mehreen Bhutto, coordinator Sukkur division Rai Naz Bozdar and publicity secretary of Sukkur division Falak Naz levelled the allegations at a press conference at the Sukkur Press Club on Wednesday.

They said that police and administration were harassing and kidnapping the elected nazims, naib nazims and councillors and threatening them of dire consequences in case they refused to support official nominees.

They demanded of the Election Commission of Pakistan to take notice of the political activities of the Sindh chief minister, who was using machinery and visiting various cities.

They said that he was threatening the elected representatives, to make his claims come true regarding bringing 20 district nazims in Sindh.

The PPP women leaders showed a large number of fake identity cards to the journalists, through which bogus votes were cast in Sanghar, Sukkur and Khairpur.

They further alleged that, on the directives of the Sindh chief minister the DCOs, DPOs and other officials have become agents of the candidates of government-allied parties and were offering attractive benefits to the newly elected Nazims, Naib Nazims and councillors while those who refused to do so, were being threatened.

They rejected the recent local bodies elections in Sindh, demanded fresh elections and an high-level judicial inquiry into the unfair means adopted during both the phases of local body elections.

They said that PPP was the largest political party of the country which had captured 80,00,000 votes during the last elections in the country.

They said that following the pre- poll rigging, the rigging was continuing for the third phase of the local body elections, while election commission was paying no attention in this regard.

They further alleged that, our people were being kidnapped even after the elections and fake cases were being registered against our MNAS, MPAS and others.

They said that a case of looting Rs1500 was registered against PPP MNA Pir Fazal Shah Jillani and MPA Naeem Kharal. They demanded of the President Gen Musharraf to seek explanation from the Sindh chief minister in this regard.
