QUETTA / ISLAMABAD: Afghan nationals on Wednesday continued to return to their country for the third consecutive day.
After Pakistan opened its border at Chaman and Torkham, thousands of Afghan families crossed over into their country.
“Over 16,000 Afghan citizens, who were stranded in Chaman after closing of border, went back to Afghanistan today,” Zakaullah Durrani, a senior official of the district administration told Dawn. A large number of women and children were among those who crossed over into Afghanistan, he added.
“In two days, 629 Afghan nationals went back to their country on valid passports,” official sources said, adding that around 25,000 Afghans crossed over into Spin Boldak in three days after showing their national cards.
