ISLAMABAD, Aug 30: The Task Force on Economic Policy (TEP) on Tuesday discussed the outline of the proposed revised Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (PRSP-II) and reviewed a presentation on Pakistan’s employment and its comparison with South Asian countries presented by Dr. Alia H. Khan.
Dr. Salman Shah Advisor to Prime Minister on Finance and Economic Affairs chaired the 4th Meeting of the TEP.
Dr. Salman Shah stated that PRSP-II will be a national strategy paper which will combine the MTDF and the financing arrangements in Medium Term Budgetary Framework for a road map for the country to reach its objectives and achieve the millennium development goals.
He asked the task force to clearly identify the broad goals covering all the important sectors and ways to quantify the same.
While preparing a strategy to attain the goals of poverty reduction by creating more employment opportunities and social sector development, the international and domestic business environment, implication of new world economic order, WTO regime, global practices, technological trends and logistic costs need to be kept in view.—APP
