MIANWALI: Nasirwala village in Esakhel tehsil is under lockdown because of occurrence of coronavirus cases last week.

After two brothers tested positive for the virus on Monday, five people of the same family of the village had been declared coronavirus patients.

First, another brother of the two (brothers) tested positive in Lahore last week where he was admitted to Mayo Hospital.

When his father and uncle visited him in Mayo and tested positive on return, the district administration decided to test all the people who remained in touch with them.

Of nine people who were screened, two brothers (one 25 years old, and the other 22 year old) tested positive and were lodged in the isolation ward of Qamar Mushani Rural Health Centre.

The district administration has sent more medical teams to get samples of more people of the village who met the infected people.

BAHAWALPUR: The report of a Tableeghi Jammat activist of Model Town, who returned from Raiwind last week, was released by a public lab on Tuesday, which declared him a confirmed Covid-19 case.

The report has alerted the residents of Model Town who are observing social distance from his house.

Divisional Commissioner Asif Iqbal Chaudhry said this was the third case in the division. He, with RPO Muhammad Fayyaz, inspected new central jail to check preventive measures for prisoners.

Deputy Commissioner Shozeb Saeed visited the local juvenile jail (Borstal jail) to check measures for the protection of the inmates of the jail.

Mr Saeed also attended meetings of the district interfaith committee and the district committee and asked ulema to preach social distancing to the people and observe restrictions imposed under section 144.

According to the district police, 332 vehicles were today impounded for violation of section 144 in the district.

In Layyah, a man in a quarantine of the Tableeghi Markaz was shifted to the Indus Hospital in Muzzaffargarh after his sample tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

The district administration has lodged 230 Tableeghi members at the central markaz of Layyah and declared it a quarantine centre. Of them, those showing symptoms of Covid-19 are screened.
