GHALANAI/KHAR: Pakistan Red Crescent Society, Mohmand district chapter officials and the volunteers conducted an awareness campaign here the other day on the importance of social-distancing and hand-washing to check spread coronavirus.

On the occasion, PRCS Mohmand programme officer Irfanullah Khan urged the tribesmen to stay at homes and avoid going to the busy places. He asked the people to regularly wash hands with soap for a minimum of 20 seconds.

Mr Irfanullah said the people should abide by the government instructions on the Covid-19 pandemic to stay safe.

The PRCS staff and volunteers also distributed soaps, sanitisers and masks among the people.

Meanwhile, protective kits were provided to the police personnel in Bajaur on Saturday to keep them safe from coronavirus.

Talking to Dawn, district police officer Pir Shahab Ali Shah said initially the body gear was given to 100 personnel discharging duties at entry points, quarantine centres, isolation wards and checkposts.

He said protective suits were made locally, adding policemen needed protection as they were on the frontlines in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
