MURREE: A 25-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped in a hotel near Bhurban.

The Murree police have registered a case based on the woman’s complaint, the FIR for which is available with Dawn. The police also took her to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital (THQ) for a medical report, and has begun searching for the suspect.

THQ medical superintendent Dr Abdul Salam Abbasi said that the initial medical report confirmed the assault. It has been sent to a laboratory for further evaluation, which is an essential requirement.

According to the woman’s statement on which the FIR was registered, she answered a phone call from the suspect, who asked her to come to a road.

When she did, he took her in his car to a hotel on Bhurban Chowk, where he raped her. He then called three other people who also raped her.

He said the police have registered a separate case against the hotel administration for opening the hotel, as the government has ordered all such establishments closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
