KHAIRPUR, Oct 14: The resident of village Gujo, taluka Khairpur, and its outskirts staged a protest demonstration outside the district press club here on Sunday against illegal cultivation of paddy crops.

The representative of the villagers told the newsmen that ratio of waterlogging and salinity was increasing, due to paddy crop in the area, causing damage to many houses. It may be mentioned that district administration has imposed ban under section 144 PPC on cultivation of paddy crop in certain areas.

INJURED DIE: Two motorcyclists identified as Rahab son of Ghulam Hussain Ujjan and Rasool Bux Chandio succumbed to injuries late on Sunday night in Civil Hospital. On Sunday evening a car (L-1371) coming from Karachi hit their motorcycle on National Highway at bypass near Kolab Jeeyal. They were seriously injured in the accident and were brought to Civil Hospital Khairpur where they died.

DROWNS: An unidentified person, aged 35, drowned in Mirwah on Sunday night near Khaki Shah bridge.

Eyewitnesses said that the deceased was going for shopping when a buffalo hit him, he fell in Mirwah canal and drowned.

The body was fished out by the people with the help of police. The body was kept at Civil Hospital Khairpur for identification.

TWO HELD: Ahmedpur police have arrested two brothers namely Rajib Metlo and Niaz Metlo wanted in the murder case of Rubina Metlo and Abdul Ghafoor Metlo here on Sunday.

The bodies of Rubina and Abdul Ghafoor were found in juwar crop some two days ago in village Khuda Bux Metlo. The case was registered on the complaint of one Naseem Ahmed Metlo at police station Ahmedpur, taluka Kingri against the parents and two brothers of deceased girl Rubina.

The complaint has alleged in the FIR that the pair of youth was killed as the accused persons have doubt of their love affair.
