GUJRAT: District Police Officer (DPO) Syed Touseef Haider suspended two policemen after their video went viral on social media wherein they are seen making announcements that cases will be registered against the mothers of those minors who were found flying kites.

In the video, Muhammad Afzal of Shaheen Chowk police station was seen aboard a motorcycle-rickshaw and announcing through a megaphone that the City circle police and Shaheen Chowk station house officer (SHO) had decided to register cases against those who were found flying kites and in case of minors the case will be lodged against their mothers.

Police said that the video was shared by the said cop on social media which later became viral.

A spokesman for Gujrat police said that the DPO had taken notice of the matter and suspended both the SHO and the other cop. Gujrat City circle Deputy Superintendent of Police Raza Awan had been tasked with conducting an inquiry into the matter and submit a report.
