MIANWALI, Aug 27: Federal Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dr Sher Afgan Khan alleged that his rival group led by Provincial Revenue Minister Gul Hameed Khan Rokhri employed every negative tactic to win his home seats at Rokhri.

Dr Khan claimed that he had seen around 500 ballot papers of different colours at union council No 22 (Rokhri) and at UC No 19 (Wattakhel) which were not issued by the presiding officer. He alleged that the Rokhris were involved in rigging at polling stations. He said that he had informed the district returning officer about this malpractice.

These allegations were levelled against his rival group by Dr Sher Afgan Khan in a crowded press conference here on Saturday. The federal minister said that opposition parties also could not play any role in the district to stop rigging. He said that all the candidates contested elections were from different groups of the PML, including PPP-Patriot.

Dr Afgan claimed that the Khidmat Ittehad group got a thumping majority by bagging 39 seats out of the total 65. He said the people had completely rejected the Rokhris.

The federal minister said that after the announcement of official results, he would show his candidates declared successful on the Khidmat Ittehad platform.

According to the figures provided by the federal minister, the Rokhris got 12 seats, the Khidmat Ittehad 39 seats, independents three seats and the Babli group two seats. Meanwhile, the Rokhris in a press release issued here on Saturday claimed to have won 32 seats in the district.
