MANSEHRA: Three people, including a woman and her daughter, were killed and 10 sustained critical injuries when a jeep skidded off the road and plunged into a deep ravine in Shangaldar area of Torghar on Tuesday.

“Policemen retrieved three bodies and 10 injured from the gorge and shifted them to civil hospital in Dormera,” district police officer Hafiz Janis Khan told reporters.

The vehicle was on way to Thakot from Judbah. According to locals, the injured, including women and children, had been referred to the district headquarters hospital, Battagram, and then to Ayub Medical Complex Hospital in Abbottabad due to their critical condition.

“The injured were referred to other hospitals because of shortage of facilities in Dormera civil hospital,” a local said.

The dead were identified as Rehmat Jan, her three-year-old son Mahaz Ahsan and a girl, Faiza Gul, 7.

Keemat Nara, Mohammad Alam, Shin Khani, Khanpir Bibi, Shah Gul, Said Zada, Shahzad Khan, Gul Mohammad, Rukhasana Bibi and driver Sahibzada Khan were injured.

Torghar deputy commissioner Yasir Khan and the DPO also visited the civil hospital and enquired about the injured.
