DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said he will not beg anyone to stop registration of high treason case against him under Article 6 of the Constitution.

Speaking at a workers’ convention here on Saturday, he blasted Prime Minister Imran Khan’s remarks that the government would register a high treason case against him.

“You are free to register a case against me under Article 6, but I will not hesitate to disclose who had committed high treason,” he said, adding that he had respect for the institutions but he reserved the right to voice dissent.

The convention was attended by parliamentarians, senior leaders of the party and workers from South Waziristan tribal district. Mr Rehman said he would not sit silent to see destruction of the country’s institutions. He said that the elections were massively rigged to change the outcome.

He said that people of erstwhile Fata were deceived after having been merged with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The JUI-F chief said the present government was illegitimate and its policies had ruined the economy. He said the people were committing suicides due to financial pressure. The convention was also addressed by MNA Mufti Abdul Shakoor, MPA Maulana Lutfur Rehman and Maulana Assamuddin.
