KARACHI: The Gulistan-i-Jauhar police on Friday registered a murder case after finding the skeleton of a woman who died 12 years ago.

The skeleton was found in a garbage dump near NIPA on Thursday.

Station Investigation Officer Abdul Majeed Nagra said that an FIR was lodged on behalf of the state.

Mehboob, the brother of deceased Zakia, was already arrested in the case on charges of dumping the skeleton.

According to the FIR, unknown suspects killed Zakia at an unknown time and kept her body inside a flat.

A police officer, who wished not to be named, said that Zakia lived in an apartment in Gulshan-i-Iqbal for 30 years along with her son, Kaiser, and daughter, Shagufta.

During initial probe, it transpired that Kaiser and Shagufta had committed suicide on Oct 4, 2019 and on Jan 29 this year, respectively.
