KHAR: The security forces claimed on Tuesday to have foiled a terror bid by killing a suspected militant during a search operation in Bajaur tribal district.

Two security personnel were wounded in the action.

Sources said the operation was carried out on a tip-off in Haji Lawang area, some 10km off Khar, the district headquarters.

They said that they had information that a terrorist present in the area was trying to carry out sabotage activities in the region. Soon afterwards, the personnel were dispatched there and an action was launched.

The sources said explosives, detonators, hand grenades and a pistol were recovered from the hideout of the suspected terrorist. They said the suspect was trying to supply the explosives to the Khar town to target political leaders, tribal elders and officials of the security forces.
