TIMERGARA: Two members of Tableeghi Jamaat suffocated to death in their room due to gas leak in Ouch Sharqi area here on Monday night.

Police identified the victims as Haji Najmuddin, 94, and his son, Ghulam Rabbani, 62.

Relatives said the victims forgot to witch off a gas heater when they went to sleep. They said Rabbani, a retired schoolteacher, had visited 35 countries with the Tableeghi Jamaat.

Their funeral prayers were offered at the Ouch Cricket Stadium attended by thousands of people, including religious scholars, from various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Ghulam Rabbani has left behind a widow and five sons, including Maulana Fazal Rabbani, Maulana Ubaidullah Anwar, Maulana Attaullah, Hafiz Bilal and Hafiz Sanaullah.
