KARACHI, Aug 21: The Excise Police foiled an attempt of narcotics smuggling and seized 200kg fine quality charas from a truck on Hub River Road on Sunday along with the arrest of two accused.

On an information that an attempt would be made to smuggle large quantity of hashish to Karachi, a team of excise police led by provincial intelligence officer intercepted a suspected truck (TKG-041) on Hub River Road. During search, they recovered 200kgs of charas from its petrol tank. The excise staff also arrested two persons identified as driver Mohammed Anwar s/o Haji Ataur Rehman and cleaner Safar s/o Phardil.

Sindh Adviser on Excise and Taxation M.A. Jalil appreciated the performance of Excise Intelligence.

On his directive, Sindh Secretary Excise Mir Hussain Ali inspected the seized narcotics at Intelligence Office Barrack No 82, where he was informed that the consignment was being brought to Karachi for smuggling abroad. — APP
