FAISALABAD, Aug 20: A dejected woman along with her four daughters jumped into Gogera branch canal in the outskirts of Jaranwala near here on Saturday after noon.

According to police, Ghulam Fatima wife of Ashiq was a resident of Syedwala. She had three daughters, 10-year-old Kishwar, 8-year-old Muqaddas and 6-year-old Shiasta.

About 10 months ago she gave birth to another girl Imrana. It fomented the gender issue in the family and her in-laws and husband were constantly scolding her. The woman on Saturday took her daughters to Jaranwala and jumped into the Gogera Branch Canal.

Some people jumped into the canal and succeeded in saving Kishwar and Imrana.

But the woman and her two daughters were still missing and were feared dead.—APP
