A FEW days ago I went to a petrol station to buy fuel for my car and as per past practice, I also gave an empty fuel can to purchase fuel for my generator.

The pump attendant showed me a Panaflex in Urdu affixed on nearby wall, saying that “Petrol would not be sold in open / other than re-fueling the vehicle” by the orders of Commissioner Karachi.

I asked the attendant as to how and where we can get petrol for our generators. He replied that he didn’t have the faintest idea and he was only following orders.

Can the Commissioner Karachi tell us what made him ban the sale of open fuel and what should citizens do to obtain fuel for their generators?
