Woman files petition in court to halt Meray Pass Tum Ho's finale

The drama serial has continuously insulted women and has shown them to be worthless in society, the petitioner said.

A woman has filed a petition in a Lahore civil court to halt the release of Mere Pass Tum Ho's final episode.

The drama serial has continuously insulted women, showing them to be worthless in society, the petitioner said, adding that it has not been of benefit to Pakistani women.

"The writer of this script has shown his mental harshness against the dignity of women in a very disrespectful manner," the petition read.

The request has been filed by a woman named Maham through her lawyer, Advocate Majid Chaudhry and the petition names PEMRA, Punjab Film Censor Board, ARY Digital, Nadeem Baig and Humayun Saeed as respondents.

After hearing the plaintiff's arguments, civil judge Naila Ayub has issued a notice to PEMRA, Baig and Saeed requesting they respond by, and set a hearing on, January 24.

Mere Pass Tum Ho's double finale is set to air on television and cinemas simultaneously on January 25.

@Sid Correct. Every one has his/her own liking/disliking. If someone does not like any drama or a drama is offensive to any person, they simply should not watch such dramas. After all there are a lot more important and urgent things to do in life instead of wasting time on soap operas.

Good! Finally a woman is taking a stand against Khalil Qamar's insanely misogynistic dialogues. A bold film like Zindagi Tamasha that highlights the ills in our society is banned but such drama serials that are repeatedly insulting to women are freely allowed to be shown in TV and cinemas. This is the height of hypocrisy that we live in.

This is a story of one women and no where it shows that all women are like that. I am not sure why people take this as an insult to one category. If such petitions are successful then we should be after all the stories in print or electronic media on good and evil will be subject of debate.

This is all very subjective. Although I don't watch TV dramas, my wife and many of her friends look to forward to each episode . If they perceived this as degrading to women, they wouldn't watch it . The petition is completely frivolous. If the courts started entertaining such petitions, there would be no end to this and the time of courts needed for serious matters would be consumed in such matters.

Drama Ruswai , mey na janoon , durr khuda sey and many more have shown women at their lowest . There is no drama where women are not slapped, beaten and trashed .Men and women both are responsible for this social epidemic .

Some people take things too far. Their are many movies we dont agree how things are worked out. Some Hollywood and todays Bollywood movies are propaganda and biast against many cultures especially Islam and Muslims. But we have to live with it. This Drama series is actually the reality of of some peoples real lives. Some people see women as downgrade and some with men. Some find it normal and some dont. If your not satisfied that's your mental issue.

Its all thanks to characters like this woman that people have issues with everything they don't agree with and want it erased. Just like what is going on with Sarmad's film. Some one should tell her that its just a drama, a work of fiction. Its purely for entertainment purposes, its not suppose to be a reflection of anything real. Stop trying to curb entertainment.

I hope court will not waste it's precious time and focus on other serious issues of Pakistani society.

Pakistani dramas have been showing men in bad light all these years. In almost every drama the man is shown as the villain, and the woman as the victim. This drama finally reverses that and brings some much needed equality to the Pakistani drama scene. I fully support this drama. In future, the dramas should be fair and balanced regarding the roles of its characters.

Our people are so used to watching men on TV cheating on their wives that one single drama showing the reality of the other gender has given them a bad stomach. And yes, there are many wives cheating on their husbands, even in religiously-oriented families, so it is not abnormal to have a drama made on them, for a change. Don't watch it if you don't like it!
