ISLAMABAD: The commander of Kenya Navy visited the Naval Headquarters and met the chief of the naval staff, according to a press release issued by Pakistan Navy’s Directorate General of Public Relations on Tuesday.

Kenya Navy’s Commander Maj Gen Levi Franklin Mghalu and Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi discussed maritime security, stability and bilateral naval collaboration between their countries.

Admiral Abbasi highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to fighting terrorism and Pakistan Navy’s contributions to ensuring maritime security and peace in the region.

Pakistan’s Naval Chief thanked Maj Gen Mghalu for the hospitality extended to Pakistan Navy Ships Aslat and Moawin on their recent visit to Mombasa.

The commander of Kenya Navy praised Pakistan Navy ships for establishing a medical camp at the port which facilitated thousands of patients and for holding exercise with Kenya Navy ship Jassiri.

A briefing was also given to Maj Gen Mghalu on Pakistan Navy’s perspective on the security situation in the Indian Ocean region. He was also briefed on the plight of the Kashmiri people in the backdrop of abrogation of Articles 370 and 35-A of the Indian constitution and Pakistan’s continued support for the struggle of Kashmiris for self-determination.

During his stay in Pakistan, the commander of Kenya Navy will also visit Pakistan Navy War College in Lahore and Pakistan Navy’s operational and training units and Joint Maritime Information and Coordination Centre in Karachi besides meeting Commander Pakistan Fleet, Commander Coast and Commander Karachi.
