LAHORE: The Punjab government on Saturday eased restrictions on supply of wheat and flour to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under directions by Chief Minister Usman Buzdar.

An announcement to the effect was made by Chief Secretary Azam Suleman during a video link meeting with his KP counterpart Kazim Niaz. Food Minister Samiullah Khan, other officials concerned and representatives of the Flour Mills Association were also present. The KP chief secretary was also assisted by the provincial officials concerned.

The Punjab chief secretary assured him of cooperation regarding the uninterrupted supply of wheat and flour to KP. He asked his counterpart to provide information about KP flour mills which get wheat supply from Punjab so as to remove all hurdles at the inter-provincial borders.

It was decided that officials of the two provinces concerned would contact each other twice a day for better coordination.

The Punjab chief secretary said data of the KP flour mills would be given to the officials concerned immediately for the needful after its receipt.

The KP chief secretary assured that his province would fully cooperate with Punjab in curbing smuggling of wheat and flour.
