KARACHI: Mian Mumtaz Mohammad Khan Daultana, President of the Council Muslim League, yesterday [Jan 11] declared that if his party came to power it would bring back the capital to Karachi from Islamabad. He was speaking at a reception given in his honour by a local political leader, Mr Abdul Ghaffar Khan Pasha, at the latter’s residence.

Mr Daultana said that the importance of Karachi could not be minimised by shifting of capital. He said that Karachi had been the capital of Pakistan as decided by the Founder of the Nation, Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah. He said that the headquarter of Council Muslim League would also be located in Karachi. The CML chief said that Karachi is the heart of Pakistan and as such it should be the capital of Pakistan.

Referring to the future status of Karachi, Mr Daultana said that nobody could stop the Karachiites in realising their demand. He said the verdict of the people of Karachi would prevail at all cost. His party would not accept any other solution of the problem if it did not have the support of the people of Karachi. Recounting the achievements of the Muslim League, Mr Daultana said that it was formed in 1906, fought against the British and Hindu imperialism, united the Muslims of the sub-continent and achieved Pakistan under the dynamic leadership of the Quaid-i-Azam.
