ISLAMABAD, Aug 17: Aqib Hanif and Maria Toor won the under-19 titles in the Hashim Khan National junior championship at the Mushaf Squash Complex on Wednesday.

In the boys final, Aqib had to be on court for more than one hour before he was able to overcome a fighting Bilal Zaman 9-6, 3-9, 9-6, 9-4.

Maria did not have to exert much though to lay her hands on the girls’ crown as she brushed aside Zaiba Pervez 9-2, 9-3, 9-4.

The other winner on the girls’ side was Roshna Mahboob who claimed the under-15 title defeating Habiba Khan 9-2, 9-0, 9-7 while Sumera Anjum bagged the under-13 honours with a 9-0, 9-2, 9-2 romp against Sana Shahid.

Shoaib Hassan emerged champion in the boys under-17 category, his victim being Waqar Mahboob whom he beat 5-9, 9-1, 9-1, 9-1 in almost an hour.

Farhan Zaman edged Nosherwan 9-5, 9-7, 9-2 for the under-15 title while Nasir Iqbal topped the under-13 competition with a 9-5, 9- 2, 9-7 defeat of Hamza Bukhari.

Ammad Farid on the other hand stood tall by winning the under-11 prize after beating Ali Bukhari 9-4, 9-4, 9-2.
