SWABI: A man was found dead in front of his house in Karnal Sher Khan village here on Tuesday, police said.

Shahab Khan, brother of the deceased, registered an FIR in Kalu Khan police station, saying that his brother, Raees Khan, was allegedly killed by Asad Khan on Monday night and later his body was dumped in front of their house during the night. He said the cause of the incident was a dispute over children.

Meanwhile, the police foiled an attempt to smuggle timber from the mountainous Gadoon Amazai region on Tuesday.

SHO Niaz Ali of Utla police station said on a tip-off they stopped a pickup full of timber on the Topi-Utla Road in the wee hours. He said they arrested the driver, Hazrat Ali, and registered a case against him.

POWER BREAKDOWN: A number of areas suffered a long power shutdown starting from Monday night and continuing on Tuesday, but the Pesco staff did not give any reason for the long power shutdown.

Yar Hussain, Yaqubi, Tarakai, Shewa, Dagai and Sikandaray in Razaar tehsil, and various localities of Topi, Chota Lahor and Swabi tehsils confronted unscheduled loadshedding.

The consumers alleged that Pesco was resorting to long power cuts to make up for the line loses.

Pesco officials said they had left no stone unturned in ensuring uninterrupted power supply to the consumers across the district. However, they said the prolong power shutdown was caused by a fault somewhere, which would be fixed soon.
