DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Five people were killed and eight others injured when a passenger bus collided head-on with a pickup loaded with tomatoes on Daraban Road here on Thursday night.

The loaded vehicle was on way from Quetta to Dera Ismail Khan when it collided with the passenger bus due to poor visibility on the road, officials said. The bus was going from Islamabad to Quetta.

Police and security personnel reached the spot soon after receiving information about the accident and started rescue work. They said three persons travelling in the tomato-loaded vehicle were killed on the spot. Two of them were identified as Said Rehman Bhittani and Laal Khan.

The officials said the bus helper, Faheem Khan, and a passenger identified as Ameenullah were also killed. Eight other passengers suffered serious injuries.

The injured were shifted to hospitals in Dera city. The police registered the case against the two drivers and started investigations.
