LAHORE: Kahna police have lodged a case against an unidentified car rider who had run over a police constable at a picket near Gajumatta a couple of days back.

According to the initial police inquiries, constable Saif Ali had signalled a suspicious car rider to stop at the picket for identification. Instead of following the signal, the unidentified driver accelerated the car, hit the constable and fled the scene along with his vehicle. Resultantly, Saif suffered multiple injuries and was rushed to hospital by his colleague police officials.

The condition of the constable was said to be stable, the police said adding further investigation is under way.

DOLPHIN SQUAD: Another personnel of the Dolphin Squad was shot at and injured in Kahna area, the police said on Tuesday.

Identified as Mohsin, the constable received a bullet injury to his eye and he was admitted to hospital.

Kahna SHO Atiq Dogar said the incident occurred a few days back and the condition of the Dolphin squad personnel was stable.

Sharing details of the incident, he said, some locals had scuffled at Chaiddu Village over a minor issue.

One of them called police 15 and the Dolphin Squad constable reached there to deal with the emergency.

Meanwhile, the SHO said, one of the suspects opened indiscriminate firing on his rivals in the presence of the police. Constable Mohsin got injured when a bullet hit his eye, he said adding that the police later rushed to the spot and registered a case against the suspects who had fled the scene shortly after the incident.

Earlier, a Dolphin Squad constable had lost his life when robbers shot at him during patrolling at Baghbanpura some days back.
