QUETTA: A memorandum of understanding has been signed between the University of Balochistan (UoB) and the University of Turbat (UoT) for mutual cooperation in various areas, particularly research projects and scholars’ exchange.

UoB vice chancellor Dr Mohammad Anwar Panezai and his counterpart from Turbat varsity Prof Dr Abdul Razzaq Sabir signed the document of mutual understanding at the latter’s campus recently.

Under the bilateral agreement, the two institutes will collaborate to jointly promote educational and research activities, training and new degree programmes, and cooperate with each other in their M.Phil and Ph.D programmes, coursework and general publications.

“We will discuss administrative ideas with each other and the two institutes will spearhead research projects and degree programmes. The exchange between teachers and students will be ensured jointly through seminars, workshops and conferences,” the UoB vice chancellor said. “Video conferences will ensure the representation of lecture programmes and each other’s policy makers.”

Dr Panezai said that good relations between the higher education institutes were a positive step. “We need to utilise each other’s experience and educational potential to meet challenges of the day.”

He further said that the cooperation between the two varsities in research projects and providing higher education opportunities to students would prove to be a breakthrough for both the institutes.

“This will facilitate better relations between scholars and specialists,” he said. “Cooperation between educational institutes is important for implementation of educational projects as this will ensure promotion of research and help scholars exchange research material, select new topics and jointly promote different training and research activities.”

The UoT vice chancellor said his university was taking measures to make higher education accessible, including promotion of various educational projects with the University of Balochistan.
