LAHORE: A Dolphin Squad personnel was shot dead allegedly by two unidentified motorcyclists in the Baghbanpura area on Sunday.

Police said a Dolphin Squad team was on routine patrol at Mehmood Booti when they signaled two suspicious motorcyclists to stop for checking.

Police said the motorcyclists did not stop and opened fire at the Dolphin Squad team. Resultantly, Constable Mohsin suffered bullet wounds in the head and fell down.

The team briefly chased the attackers who left the motorcycle on the road and fled. The injured constable was taken to Manawan Hospital where he could not survive.

A heavy police contingent reached the spot and cordoned off the area and launched search operation to arrest the motorcyclists.

Dolphin Squad Superintendent of Police Naveed Irshad told Dawn it was unfortunate incident and they would check whether security standard operating procedure (SOP) was being followed or not.
