SAHIWAL: Unidentified assailants gunned down two brothers who were sitting at their outhouse in village 99/6-R on Sunday noon.

The suspects succeeded to escape from the scene. The victims were identified as Basharat and Mubarik.

Police rushed to the scene and cordoned off the village. They also sent the bodies for autopsy to DHQ teaching hospital. Farid Town police registered a murder case against unidentified people and started an investigation.

Initial investigation revealed that two groups -- led by Basharat and Husnain Rammy -- were involved in a land dispute. The villagers said that the groups had engaged in several clashes over the issue.
