MULTAN, Aug 12: Three Baloch Students Organization leaders, missing for the last four-and-half-month, surfaced on Friday but only in the Punjab police custody in Sadiqabad area of Rahim Yar Khan.

Former BSO chairman Dr Allah Nazar Baloch, his brother Ali Nawaz Gohar Baloch and Akhtar Nadeem had gone missing in Karachi on March 24 along with BSO (united) chairman Dr Imdad Baloch, Dr Yousaf Baloch, Dr Naseem Baloch and Ghulam Rasool Baloch.

Dr Imdad’s father Mir Noor Jan had filed a habeas corpus petition with the Sindh High Court alleging that his son and comrades were whisked away by the intelligence agencies from an apartment of Gulstan Johar.

However, while the petition was pending with the court, Dr Imdad, Dr Yousaf, Dr Naseem and Ghulam Rasool were said to be arrested in Dera Ghazi Khan on May 18 last in a theft case of household goods. Later, they were discharged.

On their release, Dr Imdad and others revealed in press conferences held in Karachi and Quetta the horrific details of the alleged torture they were subjected to.

Sadiqabad police confirmed that three people — Dr Allah Nazar, Ali Nawaz and Akhtar Nadeem ‘suspicious’ character were in their custody. Police claimed that they were rounded up from the Chandrami area.

The police have reportedly obtained their four-day physical remand in a robbery case registered against some unidentified people. — Nadeem Saeed
