DACCA: The Awami League chief Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has declared that the struggle for the realisation of his party’s Six-Point programme would continue, and there was no force on earth which could deny the people of this wing full regional autonomy. Speaking at a seminar organised in observance of the death anniversary of Mr Husain Shaheed Suhrawardy here yesterday [Dec 5], the Sheikh said: “We want to live as real citizens of Pakistan — not as slaves of anybody.”

The Awami League chief, who was the main speaker at yesterday’s function held by the side of the mazar of the late leader, warned the people against the conspiracy of certain interested elements against restoration of democracy. He said these interested quarters did not want elections and were trying to create obstacles in its way. ...

Referring to the programme announced by the President for holding elections and solving important national issues, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman said his party wanted elections. He welcomed the decision to undo One Unit in Pakistan, but said it would have been better if a positive decision had been announced with regard to regional autonomy.
