Published January 16, 2002

LAHORE, Jan 15: District Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood has announced a plan for the introduction of an online property trading in the district and directed the town Nazims to launch operations for demolition of permanent encroachments immediately.

Presiding over a meeting of the district advisory committee at the Nadir Hall of the Lahore District Courts here on Wednesday, the Nazim said that the revenue records of the district would be computerized and registered property dealers would be allowed to buy and sell properties on the internet without going to the patwaris. Registration of property dealers found indulging in irregularities would be cancelled.

He directed the town Nazims to make arrangements for the demolition of the permanent encroachments and ensure that the vendors and ‘rehriwalas’ were not disturbed during their operations. The Executive District Officer (Works) should supervize demolition operations at important places in person.

He said that the removal of encroachments and improvement in the sanitary conditions were the priorities of the district city government. He said that towns should constitute boards for the promotion of sports at union council level and acquire mini-asphalt plants for road repairs.
