QUETTA: Customs authorities recovered 11 trucks loaded with smuggled betel nuts and fabric in a midnight raid on a godown in the Sariab Road area of the city.
The operation was conducted with the assistance of Balochistan Frontier Corps and police.
An inventory of the seized goods is being prepared, but according to a rough estimate, betel nuts weighed around 150 tonnes and fabric 10-20 tonnes. The market value of the smuggled goods is around Rs170 million.
The goods were shifted to the Customs House, Quetta. Further investigation is under way.
