Remember when Imran Khan recommended us all to watch Turkish drama Dirilis: Ertugrul?

Imran Khan has been seen on tape, not only recommending the popular serial lovingly called the 'Turkish Game of Thrones' but insisting all five seasons should be dubbed in Urdu so that the general public can watch and understand. And that is exactly what is happening.

The PM made sure the drama was accessible to everyone as he made a special request to PTV to air the show according to Arab News.

PTV Director for International Relations, Shazia Sikander revealed that, "PTV has got exclusive rights for dubbing and screening it in Pakistan."

Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan, special assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting also shared, "We have taken this initiative as the Prime Minister wants to protect our social, cultural and religious norms."

“It is also Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision to share media content to counter Islamophobia and improve understanding of Islamic values... The Muslim world has its own cultural heritage and values, but we are looking into western ones."

The is no release date for the Urdu-dubbed Dirilis: Ertugrul as of now but at the moment, casting for voice actors is underway.

Good move, we'll see our true culture. Rest of the TV serials should learn from Dirilis and show similar shows only.

This is a brilliant series (having watched all 5 seasons) which truly gives insight to Islam through historical swashbuckling events between brave warrior Ertugrul fighting the Crusaders from the west and the Mongols from the East. I would recommend to all Pakistanis to watch this purely for the morality of Islam!

Watched all seasons. Agree addictive. Set locations are good but probably due to resource limitation they haven’t shown large scale wars that happened at that time in Anatolia. Watching yunusamir now. Less addictive but has attraction of its own.

The first season of Dirilis is already available in urdu dubbing. It was aired a few years ago on Hum Sitaray and all the episodes of the first season were dubbed in Urdu. For some reason the remaining seasons were left out and it finished it's run in Pakistan but the following seasons only get better and more interesting as the series moves along. They have to be careful with the dubbing specially with the religious discourse of Ibn-ul-Arabi in the series though so it'll be wise to let someone who knows turkish inside and out to translate those parts specially.

This historical drama is set in 12th century Anatolia and islamic values were synonymous with frequent beheading, stoning, whipping etc etc that are there very frequently. The islamic cultural heritage PM Khan is talking about maybe debatable in this case, in 21st century world. Besides that, the whole serial is excellent to watch, vary good acting, strong storyline and great costume and direction.

@M. Emad it's about the time in 1200 C.E in Anatolia, it seems you know very little about the drama to make a judgement call.
