NEW DELHI: (By Telephone) Malik Khizr Hayat Khan Tiwana and the Unionist Party, for the first time, faced a storm of public opinion inside and outside the House, when the Punjab Provincial Assembly met today [Dec 4] in Lahore for the Winter Session.

Sardar Shaukat Hayat Khan was loudly cheered by the Opposition, when he, after the question-hour, stood up and asked the Speaker’s permission to make a statement on the circumstances in which he crossed the floor of the House. A heated discussion followed, when the Premier objected to it and the Speaker disallowed Shaukat Hayat Khan to make any statement.

The strength of the Muslim League Party which was 23 yesterday [Dec 3], was increased today to 26 when three more Muslim members of the House, amidst loud cheers, crossed the floor and sat with the Muslim League members.

Hundreds of Muslim students and members of the public collected before the main gates of the Assembly, long before the session started, and held demonstrations denouncing the Unionist Ministry and the Premier...
