The following is a letter to the editor.

Sir — “How will you be able to do what Qaid-e-Azam could not do?”, thus asked Mr. Gandhi while replying to Mr. Jamiluddin Ahmed who tried to educate him about the Muslim demand of Pakistan embodied in the Lahore Resolution. Is there any man in the world who can convince Mr. Gandhi or is he really open to conviction?

Lord Linlithgow, the ex-Viceroy, failed to convince Mr. Gandhi of the fallacy of his “Quit India” slogan. Lord Wavell too failed to satisfy the sage of Wardha. Despite his ably placing the Muslim point of view before Mr. Gandhi, Qaid-e-Azam failed to convert him; not because he was lacking the capacity of convincing or making him yield to the truth but because the Mahatma is suffering from the mania of considering others wrong.

How truthfully a great man said: “He who can no longer pause to think or see the realities is as good as dead and his eyes are closed.”

After his becoming a “Mahatma” through the efforts of Ali Brothers, Mr. Gandhi has assumed a superhuman air and is above conviction. He is working under the guidance of his “inner voice” which tells him: “Don’t fear the world but go ahead with fear of God in you”...
