Sugar cane farmers

Published November 30, 2019

LAST year sugar cane crushing season started early November. This year crushing has not yet started. Because of this, not only will there be loss of sugarcane crop, the wheat crop will also be delayed.

The sugar cane price has also not yet been decided by the provincial agriculture departments and the rate of sugarcane crop has been unchanged for the last five years.

The provincial governments are not ready to address this serious issue and the farmers face anxiety. Sindh and Punjab farmers are struggling to survive in this situation.

The authorities concerned should take immediate measures to provide relief to sugar cane farmers.
