LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid president Chaudhry Shujaat Husain says his party may file a petition in the apex court seeking to fix responsibility for unprecedented price hike, inflation and unemployment in the country.

“I have asked my party’s legal experts to file an appeal in the Supreme Court to determine who is responsible -- previous governments or the present one -- for price hike, unemployment and other such matters,” Chaudhry Shujaat said in a statement here on Tuesday.

He said all politicians who were cheating the people by raising false hopes should be exposed. All political players should steer the country out of crises and stop hurling meaningless allegations at each other, he said.

As for Pervez Musharraf’s case, Chaudhry Shujaat said: “What will be the benefit of opening retired Gen Musharraf’s case in the prevailing circumstances. Instead preference should be given to the welfare of the people because this will neither benefit the masses nor will price hike, unemployment and other issues be overcome.”

He said dharna (sit-in) culture was not over yet and a new problem of Musharraf case had been opened. The case had been in process for more than five years and might go on for another five but would not give any benefit to the people, he said.

Meanwhile, a PML-Q Khyber Pakhtunkhwa delegation headed by senior vice-president Nawabzada Yousaf Khan Hoti called on Shafay Hussain at his residence here on Tuesday. They inquired after the health of Chaudhry Shujaat and invited Shafay to KP.

Shafay Hussain said the party’s reorganisation in KP should be done in a better way.
