MUZAFFARGARH: Traders on Friday misbehaved with Jatoi’s assistant commissioner and his team who visited the shops to check tomato rates at Nooria Fareedia Chowk.

Assistant Commissioner Zaryab Sajid sent an official to shops to check tomato prices. Later, he along with a team checked the price lists and many traders gathered there and misbehaved with them. The traders led by Anjuman-i-Tajran president Naseem Joyia snatched a mobile phone and cash from the officials.

The Jatoi police registered a case against Naseem Joyia and 10 others.

The assistant commissioner said that on the direction of higher-ups he was checking the price lists and imposed fines on the shopkeepers who were not selling tomato at the official prices. He said the case had been registered against them under section 382 and 186 of PPC.

The Anjuman-i-Tajran president said the district administration was not cooperating with the traders and was imposing fines on a daily basis.
