TIMERGARA: A woman and her daughter were killed when an unidentified attacker opened indiscriminate fire on them at Barkot area here on Sunday, residents and police said.

They said 45-year-old wife of Abdul Rehman and her daughter were working in a field near the Maidan grid station when an unknown attacker opened fire at them. As a result, her daughter was killed on the spot while the woman succumbed to injuries while being shifted to the district headquarters hospital, Timergara. The Lal Qila police registered a case and started further investigations.

According to locals, the motive behind the incident could be a dispute over the deceased girl’s engagement as she had been divorced and engaged to another man. A police official said the killer escaped from the scene.

Meanwhile, the traders on Sunday held a protest demonstration at Kambat Samarbagh against the arrest of a hairdresser. They said the Samarbagh police had booked Pervez Khan in a drug selling case, but he had nothing to do with drugs’ selling. They threatened complete shutter down strike if the man was not released within 48 hours.
