PAKISTAN’s is highly dependent on oil and natural gas — 33 per cent and 48pc respectively — while hydel power contributes 11pc followed by coal with six per cent and nuclear two per cent.
In the modern world, countries are using diverse resources for power generation, mainly from solar and wind, while Pakistan is way behind in this field.
We have immense potential to produce solar as well as wind power but, unfortunately, we are yet to explore this potential.
Pakistan has lots of ideal places across the country for installing solar and wind power units. We just need to have will and a team of experts.
By using alternative energy resources we will save significant amount of foreign exchange and will also be able to provide inexpensive energy.
