The officials also said the farmers should use tractor to plough fields.

Baswar Ali, a major grower in Pirtab village, said though some fields had maize crop, most growers had begun sowing wheat there.

Farmer Safdar Khan said the agricultural officials had asked growers to irrigate wheat crop 20 days after bud growth.

He said the use of modern technology would help the province become self-sufficient in wheat production.

The growers claimed that whenever wheat flour crisis hit KP, Punjab immediately stopped supply causing flour shortage to the misery of residents.
