Ikram Sehgal resigns as K-Electric chairman due to 'personal reasons'

Ikram Sehgal resigned as the director and chairman of the K-Electric (KE) board on Wednesday "due to personal reasons", a spokesperson for the power utility said in a statement.

The board of directors of KE had elected Sehgal as its chairman in January after the resignation of ex-chairman Tayyab Tareen.

In accordance with the requirement of the Companies Ordinance, 1984 and KE regulations, the KE board of directors will appoint a new chairman at its next meeting, the statement added.

With more than 40 years of business experience, Ikram Sehgal is the chairman of Pathfinder Group Pakistan which employs several thousand people across Pakistan.

A veteran of the armed forces, Sehgal has authored several books and has served on the boards of many firms including Bank Alfalah for 16 years.

Man like Ikram Saigol can never align with a notorious business enterprise like K.Electric. This never charges exorbitant in every service. They even claim charged for updating the user name, & their procedure is cumbersome, it was the worst day in consumers histrory when this notorious company was allowed to takeover KESC. The Federal Govt must press KE to fulfill its obligations,they signed at the time of takeover. If still they failed, they may be issued Show Cause Notice, And asked to surrender the company back to government.

Mr. Ikram Sehgal has authored several books. People living in Karachi would be very much interested in reading a book which should tell the inside stories of K-Electric starting from load shedding upto how much profits K-Electric have made till now and have made assests after privitisation of KESC. The most interested part would be where the copper wires were sold in the open market. I wish best of luck to Mr. Ikram Sehgal in his future endeavors.
