KARACHI, Aug 8: Police arrested a head constable after he opened fire at a motorcyclist in Saddar on Monday. Police said that head constable Wakil was on his motorcycle when another motorcyclist Ibrahim hit his vehicle. After exchange of words, Ibrahim and his brother beat up the policeman. Subsequently, the wounded head constable took out his pistol, shot at Ibrahim and fled.

Later, Ibrahim was taken to the JPMC for treatment.

In the meantime, police arrested Wakil from the Civil Hospital, where he was getting treatment for head injury.

Police said that Wakil was a wireless operator in Police Training College, Razzakabad.

SHOOTOUT: Police arrested two alleged extortionists of the notorious Arshad Pappu gang following a brief shootout with them in Lyari on Monday.

Police said a factory owner, Naseem, received some calls from the gangsters who threatened him to bomb the factory and demanded Rs400,000. After striking the deal, Naseem informed the police about the matter. A team of the Industrial Crime Unit headed by DSP Aslam Khan raided the place, where the payment was made. After a brief shootout, police arrested Asif and Rafiq with two pistols and Rs400,000. Both the suspects were members of Arshad Pappu gang, DSP Aslam claimed.
