LAHORE, Aug 7: Rain on Sunday provided Lahorites the much needed respite for the first time during the current monsoon. They went to parks and other recreational places to enjoy the ‘sawan’ rain after days of hot and humid weather punctuated with occasional showers.

The wind was cold and it remained cloudy throughout the day, making people to switch off airconditioners.

The rain started early in the morning and continued with brief intervals. Dark clouds covered the sky at around noon and it rained again, inundating city streets and roads.

The local Met office recorded 27mm of rain at its Jail road observatory and 43mm at the airport. The maximum temperature was 30.3 degrees C and the minimum 21.8 degrees C with 81 per cent humidity in the morning and 87 per cent in the evening.

The Met office also reported rain in several other cities in the province and said Sargodha received 100mm of rain.
