QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani has said that the country’s problem of energy shortage can be overcome by utilising long coastal belt of the province for power generation through renewable resources.

He expressed these views during a meeting held recently to review the proposed Renewable Energy Policy 2019.

Parliamentary Secretary for Energy Mobin Khan Khilji, Chief Minister’s Special Assistant Ejaz Sanjarni, Mir Umair Mohammad Hasani, Additional Chief Secretary for planning and Development Abdul Rehman Buzdar, Energy Secretary Shehryar Taj and other senior officials attended the meeting.

The energy secretary briefed the meeting on the proposed Renewable Energy Policy 2019 and informed it about possibilities of producing electricity through alternative sources.

CM Alyani said Balochistan had great potential in generating energy from solar and wind which was not less than a blessing for the province. “Besides production of energy the effective process of supply would also be needed so that the masses could get its benefits,” he added.

He said that all affairs regarding the proposed policy would be discussed in detail, adding that solar, wind and bio gas energies were the cheapest sources of energy, and by utilising these sources the problem of energy’s shortage could be overcome.
