KHAIRPUR, Aug 7: Former District Nazim Nafisa Shah has complained that state machinery is being used to harass Awam Dost Panel candidates and to support candidates backed by the PML-F.

Talking to journalists here on Sunday, she alleged that harassment of the ADP candidates by the PML-F candidates and the district police continued. She said the ADP candidates were being pressured by the district administration to withdrawn from the contest.

She said an ADP candidate for the seat of nazim of the Chondiko union council, Koro Khan, was missing.

She feared that he might be forced to withdraw from the polls.

Ms Shah said two Tapedars, Noor Mohammad Shar and Mushtaq Rajpar, who were brothers of candidates of the ADP, had been suspended as their brothers had refused to withdraw from the contest.

She alleged that a Sindh minister had threatened DSP Liaquat Talpur that he would be terminated from services if he did not ensure withdrawal of his brother, a candidate for the seat of naib nazim of Nasir Faqir Jalalani.

She said that all these incidents had been reported to the district returning officer.

The former district nazim said police had twice raided the house of Asadullah Narejo, a candidate for the seat of nazim of the Kot Mir Mohammad union council.

PPP MPA Nawab Wassan alleged that the Kotdiji police had threatened Khadim Hussain Lashari, a candidate for general councillor’s seat of Mohabbat Wah, to withdraw from the elections otherwise he and his six relatives would be implicated in false cases.
