TAXILA: Rawalpindi police chief retired Capt Mohammad Ehsan Tufailon Monday reviewed security arrangements at Mankor checkpost and Khushalgarh bridge in Jand tehsil in connection with the anti-government march announced by Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) on October 31, officials said.

Regional Police Officer (RPO) Mohammad Ehsan Tufail was accompanied by District Police Officer Shahzad Nadeem Bukhari, RPO Kohat Division Tayyub Hafeez Cheema and other officials.

They visited entry points of Attock district which borders Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at Jand tehsil and reviewed the security plan.

A comprehensive strategy has been prepared in consultations with three district police officers to prevent the marchers from entering Attock.

According to sources, police have asked their counterparts in KP and Punjab to intercept JUI-F leaders, activists and workers in their respective areas.

On the other hand, Attock police have arranged training and capacity building for the Anti-Riot Force (ARF) personnel at the police lines.

An official said more than 1,000 police personnel equipped with anti-riot gear are participating in the training on daily basis.

“The training will continue till Azadi March,” he said.

On the other hand, police’s Special Branch have started surveillance of seminaries affiliated with JUI-F in Taxila, Wah and Hassanbadal. The officials are collecting information about the teachers and students of these seminaries.
