OKARA: Governor Chaudhry Sarwar on Saturday conducted ballot for the Naya Pakistan Housing Project (NPHP) at Shergarh Road, Renala Khurd, and said the provision of houses was the dream of Prime Minister Imran Khan which had been turned into reality by CM Usman Buzdar and Housing Minister Mian Mahmoodur Resheed.

Ministers Samsam Ali Bokhari, Mahmoodur Rasheed, Secretary (housing) Naseem Sadiq, the commissioner, Sahiwal division RPO, DPO and the deputy commissioner were also present.

The governor said when he assumed the office, 15 universities were working without vice chancellors. Search committees were formed and VCs were appointed purely on merit.

“Pure water supply is my first priority and for the purpose Aab-i-Pak Authority has been set up,” he said.
Earlier, NPHP Director General Liaquat Chattha said land had been specified in 29 districts and the price of one-bed house had been fixed at Rs1.6 million with the design for more bed rooms. “Today (Saturday) balloting has been completed for 1,988 applicants, including 14 for the disabled quota.”

BOOKED: A man was booked and arrested for alleged torture of two minors here on Saturday at village 40/4L.

As per FIR, Muhammad Yaqoob overpowered Saqib (7) and his brother Shabal (6) over some trifle and tortured him. Someone made a video which went viral and the Shahbore police arrested the suspect and registered a case against him.
